A friendly match was held between two amateur teams in Al-Ula, attended by Prince Abdulmohsen. This simple match was the starting point that inspired the local community to come together. What began as a small community gathering quickly turned into a historic merger of local teams.

In 1981, the club was officially registered under the name Wadi Al-Qura, giving the team its first official identity. Under the leadership of its founder and first president, Musa Abdul-Wahid, the club began competing officially, marking a new chapter in the history of organised football in Al-Ula Governorate. During this period, the people of Al-Ula rallied around their team, expressing their support and pride in their representatives in national competitions.”

Prior to its official foundation, the Al-Madain team was one of the cornerstones of football in Al-Ula. Its consistent presence and strong, unbeaten performances helped to foster a passion for the sport and were an integral part of the journey towards the founding of Al-Ula Club.
